Labourer Hands

Hands of Labor:

When we were working on our project named Hands of Labor, our goal was to focus on our volunteers’ hands while they were doing their daily job. We didn’t come across any worker who wasn’t making a living without using their hands. Hands are crucial in work life, and that’s why we wanted to work on this topic.

Many workers gave us permission to photograph them, however some of them were hesitant and didn’t want to be included in the project. They were afraid of photographed since many workers had faced problems with their photos being used illegally or for bad purpose in the past. But after we explained the purpose of our project they gave us the permission.

We hope you understand our purpose: check out our photos and be reminded of the importance of hands in work life. We decided on black and white format because black&white is carried from the past into the future: same labor, different times. We hope after this project you remember how we take our hands for granted, but how essential they are for our life. Enjoy the photos we took of hands of 35 different workers as we witnessed their life’s story.
